It’s important to check your water meter regularly.
If you think there’s a problem with it, drop us a line at customer.service@business-stream.co.uk We’ll arrange for a maintenance expert to pop round and have a look. There may be a charge for this but we’ll let you know at the time.
If it’s broken, we’ll replace it. If our expert finds that it’s the wrong size for your needs, we’ll get Scottish Water to swap it for one that’s just right. You can find out more about how you are charged in our Charges section.
Testing the meter’s accuracy
If you’ve checked your meter regularly and are a bit worried it’s not giving you the right reading, let us know. We’ll send someone round to test it and put your mind at ease. The charge for the test is £461.66 (plus VAT). If it turns out that your meter is out by more than 5%, you'll get that £461.66 and the VAT back. We’ll also have a look through your old bills to make sure you haven't been overcharged.
Changing the size of your meter
If you ask us to change the size of your water meter, there will be a charge but we’ll always let you know the cost in advance. To apply complete the meter resized application form and email it to us.
Replacing a damaged meter
If your water meter does get damaged and needs to be replaced, just let us know. In most cases, until the meter can be replaced, we will estimate the amount of water that you are using, instead of using the damaged meter.
