Business Stream, Scotland’s leading non-domestic water supplier, has appointed Craig Watson as its head of customer experience.
Craig Watson, new head of customer experience at Business Stream
Craig, most recently managing consultant at global consulting, technology and outsourcing firm Capgemini, will play a key role in the day to day running of customer operations and ensure that Business Stream’s commitment to customer service continues to be at the forefront of the business.
With more than twenty years of experience in operations and customer management, Craig will help make sure Business Stream’s 96,000 customers receive consistent support and the best possible service.
Craig said: “I’m delighted to be joining an organisation which not only provides an essential service but also ranks excellent customer service as one of its key attributes. In the current economic climate, the importance of providing a first-rate customer experience cannot be overstated, so to join a company which already places great emphasis on this is fantastic.
“The customer experience will be crucial to Business Stream’s continued growth, and as the leading supplier in the UK’s first competitive retail water market our priority is to deliver quality, innovative and cost-efficient services. Effective customer support is therefore imperative if we want to deliver on these services.”
Mark Powles, chief executive of Business Stream, said: “When operating in a competitive market, it is crucial that we make sure our customers receive the best service available in the market. Craig brings with him a wealth of experience and a proven track record in customer services, and we’re looking forward to seeing the impact of his role in the future success of Business Stream.”

Notes to editors
A wholly-owned subsidiary of Scottish Water, Business Stream has been formed as an arms-length company with its own board and independent management team. Its goal is to provide a first class service for business customers and respond to the challenge of other established utility companies entering the new, competitive market which opened on 1 April 2008.
Under the Water Services etc. (Scotland) Act 2005, Scottish Water had to split its operation into wholesale (Scottish Water) and retail (Business Stream) units. Although ostensibly remaining a part of Scottish Water, Business Stream is a new business working completely independently of its parent company in order to ensure fair and transparent retail practice under the rules of the new competitive marketplace for business customers.
