Monthly meter readings

The water industry had a bit of a get-together and came up with a straightforward way of deciding which water meters are read every month, and which are read every quarter.

If you'd like to find out exactly what the water industry's biggest cheeses talk about when they get together, you can find more at the website of the Central Market Agency Ltd - the company which administers the market for water and waste water retail services in Scotland.

You can find out whether you're a suitable candidate for monthly readings by having a quick look at the CMA website. Annual consumption, pipe connections and specific tariff conditions all play a part in deciding who's eligible.

If you do match the criteria we'll be reading your water meter and sending you a bill every month rather than every quarter. Your water meter will be read during the last week of each month. Your bill will be sent at the beginning of the next month. This will give you a better sense of how much water you're using, when you're using it - and how you can manage your water and waste water more efficiently.

If you have taken your own reading remember you can submit your meter reading online.
