Water falls from the sky in these parts, but collecting and treating it is another story!
In order to take full advantage of the rain gods’ generosity in Scotland, this rain water needs to be collected, treated and brought back into the supply system. To cover the costs of doing this, bills include a charge for property drainage and roads drainage. Both property and roads drainage are applied in relation to the RV of your property.
Property drainage
Property drainage is the term that is used for rainwater that drains into the public sewerage system from within the boundary of your property, such as roofs, private car parks and private roads. If rainwater drains to the public sewerage system from your property, then property drainage charges will apply at the rate of £0.02465 per pound of your RV.
Roads drainage
Roads drainage is the term used for rainwater that drains into the public sewerage system from public roads and footpaths. Roads drainage charges apply to all properties that have a connection to the public sewerage system for either waste water or for property drainage, and run at the rate of £0.01583 per pound of your RV.
