When does rateable value apply?

If you don’t have a meter, your water and waste water charge will be based on your property’s rateable value.

This is also the basis for property and roads drainage charges, which apply whether you’re metered or not.

Your rateable value is given to your business by the Scottish Assessors Association. You will have been assigned a rateable value in March 2000, unless your property was built since then or it has been:

  • re-valued following modification or extension
  • brought into charge for the first time, and the March 2000 value is no longer available.

If this is the case, your charges will be based on the local assessors' rateable value from March 2005.
