Transport: BAE Systems
The project to build the Royal Navy’s new aircraft carriers will be more efficient and less costly, thanks to Business Stream’s water management advice.
Running a tight shipyard
Embarking on the high-profile aircraft carrier project, BAE Systems had concerns about water consumption at the vast Govan shipyard site.
Our teams carried out a water efficiency ‘health check’ on the site, and installed automated meter reading at key points to scrutinise water consumption. As a result of the analysis, our team identified a leak in the water supply, which was then located and fixed.
- BAE stands to save £300,000 over the lifetime of the project as a result of the water efficiencies made.
- With automated meter reading still in place, managers can be confident of spotting any future issues at an early stage.
