Drains collect rainwater from roads and properties, and carry it via the sewerage system to the treatment works. The water is then treated and put back into the water cycle. Most businesses and public sector organisations pay a charge for this.
Property drainage
Property drainage is the term used for rainwater that drains into the public sewerage system from your buildings and grounds – for instance, from roofs, private car parks and private roads. There are separate charges for these services.
Roads drainage
Roads drainage is the rainwater that drains into the public sewerage system from public roads and footpaths is termed roads drainage.
All properties connected to the public system pay this charge – it reflects your share of maintaining Scotland’s drainage system. There are separate charges for these services.
Drainage survey
We can survey the drainage on your site to make sure you’re being charged for the right services. If not, we’ll put your case to Scottish Water.
Using CCTV technology or simple dye testing, we can check whether or not property drainage goes back into Scottish Water’s network.
