pH correction

Highly alkaline and acidic solutions can corrode drains, resulting in prosecution and fines.

The problem: acidity and alkalinity

When a solution that’s highly acidic or alkaline goes down the drain, its corrosive nature can cause extensive damage to the sewerage system.

To ensure that liquid waste is within the right pH range for disposal, an effective system of effluent sampling is needed. Otherwise you may not be aware of the issue until tanks and drains display visible signs of corrosion.

Scottish Water will charge businesses whose trade effluent corrodes drains the cost of their repair. Prosecution and fines may follow.

Our solution

Business Stream is experienced in addressing corrosive pH levels. Our first step is to analyse your trade effluent to see exactly what we’re dealing with. Next we’ll carry out a waste minimisation survey to see if the problem with pH can be rectified or reduced by improving processes.

We’ll enhance the pH balance of effluent – or even neutralise it – through chemical dosing and control. This form of pH correction can be used to balance the pH of effluent continuously or in batches.

If you have an ongoing demand for pH correction, Business Stream can design, operate, build and pilot an on-site treatment plant for your business. Alternatively, you can turn to our trade effluent plant hire for a temporary pH correction solution.
