Water management plan - saving water

Investing a little time and money in a simple water management plan will help you spot the little changes that could help you to make savings.

Just follow these five basic steps:

  1. Nominate someone to take charge of the plan and get staff involved in creating a water efficient workplace.
  2. Keep track of how much you’re using, and what it’s costing you. Any ‘blips’ could mean a leak somewhere.
  3. Assess how much water each of your activities uses (flushing the loo takes 7.5 to 9.5 litres, for example). Set targets for improvement: are taps dripping? Your staff will be a great source of efficiency ideas.
  4. Evaluate water efficiency measures. Which best suit your business needs? Where there’s an initial cost, how long is the payback?
  5. Put your plan into action.

Water efficiency not only makes sense financially, it also helps you do your bit for the environment. By improving your water efficiency you help ensure water provision for everyone in the future.
