Metered water supply charges
Having a water meter means you’ll get a more accurate water bill. It can also help you identify ways to save water and money.
Metered water charges
Your bill is made up of different types of water and waste water charges.
- ‘Volumetric’ charges for water and waste water are based on the readings taken from your meter. Waste water is usually charged at 95% of water use – that’s the proportion we estimate goes down the drain.
- Fixed charges – this element of your bill depends on the size of your meter. You can see a full table of the current fixed charges here.
- Drainage charges – assuming you’re connected to the public water and sewerage system, you’ll be charged for property and roads drainage. These charges are based on the rateable value of your property.
Your meter readings
Most metered customers get four water bills a year – two based on meter readings, and two on estimates. If it’s safe and practical, please submit your own meter reading online. This will make your estimated water bill more accurate. If you have a larger meter you will usually receive a monthly bill.
Full business metering
If you’re among the customers who had a meter installed as part of the Government’s full business metering project, your metering charges are now being phased in.
