If we need to call you or visit your business for any reason, the first thing we will do is put your mind at ease by making sure you know that it's us.
Visiting your business
There will be times when we need to visit your premises, whether it's to check your water supply or wastewater drainage or just to carry out general maintenance work.
All our staff and contractors carry cards to identify them as Business Stream employees. If ever you're not sure it's a genuine visit, make sure you ask to see this.
Also, we will never ask you to hand over any money in person. If someone who claims to be from Business Stream asks you for money face-to-face, please report it to the police immediately. Once you have, let us know about it as well.
Calling you
When we call you, the first thing we will do is let you know that it's us. We'll then check we're speaking to the right person, just in case we've got your number down incorrectly or you have lost your mobile phone.
To do this, we will ask you to confirm some details only you would know. Once you give us that information, we'll be able to confirm the address on the account - so you will know it's us calling.
If for any reason you're worried it may not be a genuine call, please explain your concerns and call us back on our main number 0845 602 8855. Simply mention that someone has just tried to contact you, and we will happily put your mind at ease and confirm whether it was us or not.
NOTICE: Bogus calls
We've been told by Scottish Water that a number of businesses have been targeted by bogus callers, claiming to be from the water board, asking them to hand over money for a fake scheme.
If you do get a call or visit from someone who claims to be from the water board - and then asks you for money, please hang up/show them the door - and then report it to the police.
We would like to reiterate that our staff will always be able to prove their identity, and will never ask for money.
