Glasgow City Council

A pioneering patnership between Business Stream and Glasgow City Council is on its course to deliver over £1.3m savings

Glasgow City Council was keen to exploit big potential savings through better water management – but its inability to invest in efficiency measures threatened to put the benefits out of reach.

Convinced of the potential savings to be found, Business Stream came up with an innovative approach that will allow the authority to achieve substantial savings, without any upfront costs through a 'gainshare' model.

  • Business Stream itself would fund investment in the new infrastructure and labour required.
  • In return, it would take a share of the savings as they were realised
  • Once agreement was reached, Business Stream’s experts immediately installed  Automated meter readers (AMRs)
  • Leak detection and repair teams worked to identify and tackle hidden bursts across the estate
  • It now expects to be able to help the council save £1.3 million over four years. This equates to 1105 tonnes of carbon.
