FAQs

When should I contact my wholesaler?

There is a rule of thumb that we use to determine who is responsible for repairing leak, bursts and other emergency issues. If the issue is located before your meter then this is your regional wholesaler’s responsibility and you can contact them using the information below. Unfortunately, if the issue is located after the meter then you are responsible and should call a qualified plumber or contact our solutions team for assistance in leak detection and repair.

The wholesaler emergency numbers should be used outside of our opening hours. You can give them a call if there is an interruption to your water supply. Within our standard operating hours, you can call us for help on 0330 123 2000. Our offices are open Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm.

Find out your wholesaler's contact details and keep up-to-date with any supply issues in your area here.

How can I minimise any potential damage in an emergency?

Advice for reducing damage from frozen pipes

  • Turn off the water supply at the stop valve
  • Thaw along the pipe, starting from the end nearest the tap
  • Be careful to heat the pipe slowly. Don’t use a naked flame (such as a lighter or blow torch)
  • Instead put hot water bottles or a towels soaked in hot water over the frozen pipe
  • Don’t leave taps dripping or running, the water may not flush down the plug hole if the pipes below are frozen

Advice for reducing damage from burst pipes

  • Turn off the water supply at the stop valve
  • Try to block any escaping water with thick towels
  • Turn on all other taps to reduce flooding
  • Call a qualified plumber or our solutions leak detection and repair service
  • Don’t forget to turn off taps once the problem is solved. This will prevent further flooding
