Track Inspections
It’s important to ensure pipework is laid correctly according to approved designs
What is a track inspection?
When your development is ready for connection, Scottish Water will need to check the pipework has been laid correctly and according to the approved design.
Once everything has been checked and approved, your water or waste water system will be given the go-ahead and typically you’ll be connected within 14 business days.
Download our useful checklist which covers everything you’ll need to do to make sure your site is ready for inspection.
What do I need to do?
You’ll need to make sure the site is prepared for inspection - this will help to avoid any delays or additional charges.
It’s important to be aware of your responsibilities and to ensure you have satisfied any conditions before your inspection. Our team will make you aware of these but it’s especially important to:
- Arrange for any required testing which is typically the day after your track inspection is approved (the wholesaler can request to witness this testing)
- Make sure you’ve submitted and paid for a building water application before requesting your track inspection
