Temporary Use Ban for customers in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight

Due to prolonged dry conditions, Southern Water has implemented a Temporary Use Ban (TUB), also known as a hosepipe ban, for customers in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. The ban is in effect as of Friday, 10 July 2026. Recent weather conditions have had a significant impact on the River Test, which supplies most of the water to homes and businesses across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. River levels are critically low, around 25% below normal, and have fallen by a third in just one month. The ban will protect vital habitat and ensure an ongoing, reliable supply of water for our customers.

Monitoring

While these restrictions mainly apply to household water use, some businesses will be affected.

Business water usage accounts for nearly a third of all water usage in England, and businesses are being asked to reduce consumption wherever possible to help manage the situation and avoid further restrictions.
