Temporary Use Ban for Mid and East Devon regions

Due to prolonged dry conditions, South West Water has implemented a Temporary Use Ban (TUB), also known as a hosepipe ban, for their customers in the Mid and East Devon regions. The ban is in effect as of Tuesday 14 July 2026.
The following towns and surrounding areas are covered by the ban:

•    Tiverton
•    Cullompton
•    Bampton
•    Honiton
•    Dunkeswell
•    Axminster
•    Lyme Regis
•    South Molton

After two extreme heatwaves in the last three weeks, demand for water has consistently reached exceptionally high levels across the area. These restrictions will help make sure there's enough water for homes, businesses and essential services, while protecting our local rivers and the environment.

Updates

Monitoring

Business customers can continue to use a hosepipe where it is absolutely necessary for day-to-day operations, however South West Water is asking businesses to use water as efficiently as possible.

Business water usage accounts for nearly a third of all water usage in England, and businesses are being asked to reduce consumption wherever possible to help manage the situation and avoid further restrictions.
