Edinburgh-based water retailer Business Stream has appointed Lee Shipsey as its new Sales and Marketing Director.

With over two decades of experience in the water industry, Lee is currently Sales and Marketing Director at Wave – a joint venture set up between Anglian Water Business and NWG Business in advance of the opening of the English water market in April 2017.

With a proven track record in retail water sales, marketing and developing value added solutions, Lee will join Business Stream on the 26th September 2018. He will be responsible for the leadership and direction of Business Stream’s Sales, Marketing and added value solutions teams, helping the company achieve its ambitious growth targets.

Jo Dow, Chief Executive at Business Stream, said: “We’re delighted to have appointed Lee, one of the most knowledgeable and experienced sales professionals in the retail water industry today. Lee joins us at an incredibly exciting time for the business as we maintain our position as the market leader in Scotland and build on the success we’ve achieved to date in the English market. This latest appointment will strengthen our senior management team and help us drive forward our ambitious plans for the future”.

Lee Shipsey commented: 'I am excited to be joining Business Stream at this point in the company's development, to further build on its success to date and help deliver on its ambitious growth plans. What attracted me to Business Stream is the company's strong brand and wealth of experience in helping customers save money, time and water, coupled with their ambitions for the future'.

Since the opening of the new £2.5bn English water market, Business Stream has secured over £155 million of new contract wins, including the UK wide portfolios of Greggs, Morrisons and Network Rail.

The retailer also recently announced plans to help its customers reduce their water consumption by 20 per cent. The pledge, announced by the firm’s CEO, Jo Dow, forms part of Business Stream’s on-going commitment to promote the importance of water efficiency and to pro-actively work with its customers across the UK to reduce their water use.

To date, Business Stream has helped its customers save over 38 billion litres of water, resulting in almost £75 million in financial savings and over 66,000 tonnes in CO2 savings.
