Fettes College has signed up to a new water supply and waste water services contract with water retailer Business Stream.

The independent school in Edinburgh agreed to a new three-year extension with Scotland’s biggest supplier, having worked with Business Stream since the water market opened in 2008.

The new agreement includes the consolidation of all water meters on the school’s estate and the introduction of automated meter readers to help track water use. The school will also continue to benefit from the water expert’s dedicated account management service, providing day-to-day support and 24/7 emergency assistance, if required.

Peter Worlledge, bursar, Fettes College, said: “We have always valued the level of expertise and support provided by Business Stream. We are looking forward to maintaining our partnership with the retailer over the next three years, as we look to generate further environmental efficiencies”.

James Cardwell-Moore, commercial director at Business Stream, said:

“We are delighted that Fettes College has chosen to renew its partnership with us. We always strive to deliver a seamless customer experience and to retain one of the UK’s leading schools, Fettes College, for over a decade is an encouraging indicator that we are serving our customers well”.

Scotland’s non-domestic market, which covers all premises across private and public sector organisations, opened to competition in April 2008. Since then, Business Stream customers have saved more than £160 million on their water bills.

Business Stream expanded its operation in April 2016 when it began competing in the new £2.5bn English water market, which has enabled 1.2 million businesses and public bodies in England to choose their water supplier for the first time.
