Business Stream secures over £155 million in new contract wins

30 April 2018

To coincide with the one year anniversary of the English retail water market, which opened in April 2017, Edinburgh based water retailer Business Stream has revealed it has secured over £155 million of new contract wins in the first 12 months since the market opened.

New contract wins include the UK wide portfolios of Greggs, Morrisons and Debenhams and water and waste water deals with Veolia, Places for People and Southampton Airport.

Business Stream, which is now one of the largest water retailers in the UK, significantly expanded its operation to capture an increased share of the £2.5bn English market. In addition to acquiring the non-household customer base of Southern Water, it also opened a new office in Worthing and now has over 370 employees across the UK.

Jo Dow, Chief Executive of Business Stream, said: “We have been very targeted in our approach to growth, using our capability and experience gained from 10 years of operating in the Scottish retail water market, to help secure over £155 million of new business to date.  We are very passionate about water efficiency at Business Stream and are committed to working in partnership with our customers to help them use less water. This approach has been instrumental in helping us to secure over £155 million of new contracts, positioning Business Stream as one of the largest water retailers in the UK.

Looking ahead to the next 12 months, our focus remains on growing our business further, whilst ensuring our existing customers continue to receive a great level of service”.

Scotland’s non-domestic market, which covers all premises across private and public sector organisations, opened to competition in April 2008. Since then Business Stream customers have saved more than £160 million on their water bills and conserved over 24 billion litres of water.
